Hannah Qiu is Executive VP and Chief Innovation Officer, Ping An OneConnect. As a veteran with nearly 20 years in the financial industry, Hannah excels in leveraging her all-around insight and global perspective in financial services, as well as big data sciences and application.

Hannah began her career with General Electric Global Decision Sciences Center. Later she worked for top institutions including McKinsey, Temasek and Standard Chartered Bank, serving in key positions including Director of Innovation, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Data Officer.

Hannah joined Ping An in 2014, and is hailed by the industry as Ping An’s “big data scientist.” Under her leadership, OneConnect and Qianhai Credit Bureau have achieved explosive growth, clinching a myriad of awards, including China Internet Financial Innovation Award, the Annual Fintech Company Award, the Comprehensive Financial Services Award, and Best Innovative Fintech Company Award issued by top-level national media outlets.

Hannah also founded the Gamma Lab under Ping An, with an aim to bolster wider applications of cutting-edge technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI) in the financial sector. With forward-looking insight in global Fintech innovation and deep understanding of China’s financial market scenario, Hannah leads the team to build up core capabilities in research and engineering application. The institute, under her leadership, has applied for over 40 patents, and launched some innovative AI field applications, substantially ahead of peers at home and abroad. Among them, the Gamma Smart Loan Solution integrates dozens of cutting-edge AI and big data technologies to cover the entire process involving documents collection, interviews and approval. It is the first self-developed AI solution in the financial industry. The independently developed micro-expression recognition technology owns the world’s largest database of micro-expressions, together with hundreds of thousands of videos that cover 54 types of micro-expressions. The technology is used in interviews with applicants for consumer loans, with a globally-leading accuracy rate of 80% in detecting fraud. It can replace more than 50% of face-to-face interviews and is an innovative approach in the global financial industry.

Hannah was awarded the 2016 Lujiazui Financial Innovator.
